Making A Purchase Making a purchase is simple. When you find a pair of shoes or accessory that you wish to purchase, select your size and click on the 'Add to Basket' button. This will add the item to your shopping basket and straight away you will be able to see the contents of your shopping basket. This will also add a "cookie" to your PC. This cookie only stores details of the items that you have selected and contains no personal information. If you have set your site to deny all cookies then you will not be able to shop online at BrogueShoes.co.uk. (In these circumstances you can always place an order by telephone).

You then have three choices. You can amend the contents in your basket (delete items or adjust quantities), continue shopping or proceed to the checkout.

You can reach the shopping basket at any time by clicking on the 'View Basket' link on the top of any page. If you change your mind, the shopping basket will allow you to remove or change the quantity of any product you have added. If you run out of time, your basket will be saved – in fact, as long as you use the same computer, the contents of your basket will be saved until you either clear them or complete your purchase.

We accept credit or debit card payment. If you are shopping from outside the UK, place your order and your credit card company will convert the transaction to your own currency.

We accept Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, Solo, Visa Debit Cards and American Express. We do not charge for any item until it is packed and ready to ship. Similarly any backordered items are not charged until they are packed and ready to ship. You may make purchases online or by telephone.

The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 (SI 2000 No. 2334), transpose into UK law the European Directive 97/7/EC on the protection of consumers in respect of distance contracts. The complete text of the Regulations is available on the Stationery Office website www.hmso.gov.uk/si/si2000/20002334.htm. These regulations apply to transactions on this website, therefore we must provide clear and comprehensible information to enable you, the consumer, to decide whether to buy. We strive to give as much information on our goods as possible on the website.

Please email or telephone us if there is further information that you require. On our website we ask for information such as how you found us, the reason for purchase and any comments you care to make. We use this information to try to improve the website, its content and our marketing. It is not picked up as part of our order processing system and cannot be relied upon as part of an order.

Prices  Our prices are shown in pounds sterling (£) and include VAT.

Payment is required by credit or debit card prior to goods being shipped. We do not debit your card until the goods are ready for shipment. If you are shopping from North America, or anywhere else, your credit card company will convert the transaction to US Dollars or your own currency. Your credit card company may make a charge for this service.

The Consumer Protection Act 1987 makes it an offence to give (by any means whatsoever) misleading price information to consumers and we make every effort to ensure that the prices advertised on our website are accurate. However, these prices may be changed without notice.

The Right to Cancel an Order.   Under The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations you have a right to a cooling off period of seven days from the date of contract. However, the regulations state that certain contracts are excluded from the right to cancel such as a contract for the supply of goods made to the consumer's specifications (regulation 13).

Jurisdiction  It should be clearly understood that this website, and any other advertising, is classified as an invitation to treat, rather than an offer which is capable of being accepted. A legally binding contract comes into enforce only when we despatch the goods to you. Any such contract will be deemed to have been concluded in the Scotland and will be interpreted, construed and enforced in all respects in accordance with the laws of Scotland, and you irrevocably submit to the jurisdiction of the Scottish Courts.
Shipping And Handling Within the UK we ship by Royal Mail or UPS to most areas of the mainland UK; and by Royal Mail to the Islands, Northern Ireland and some remote areas of Scotland. However, you may choose to pay a surcharge to have urgent orders sent by an alternative method.

For orders that are outwith the UK, you are shown the available option(s) at the checkout.

These goods are "high value" items so we require a signature on delivery. We show any shipping/delivery charges on the shopping cart page.

To cut down on Internet Fraud, the Credit Card Companies very much prefer us to ship to the Card Holders address as held by the credit card company. As most of our shipments require a signature, this can be inconvenient for our customers who are not at home. We are happy to ship to a customer's UK work address; however in these circumstances we do need the additional security provided by landline telephone numbers.

Delivery Schedule We aim to despatch shoes within 1-2 business days to arrive with you the day following despatch. International orders are generally received in under a week but air mail orders to the other side of the world may take a couple of days longer. If goods are out of stock, we shall so advise you together with the anticipated replenishment date.

Where you have any time constraints please let us know. We will always do our best to help.
Back Orders If your item is not in stock, we will back order for you. You will always be emailed with the option to cancel your order if you would rather not wait.
Tax Charges For orders made from within the UK or the European Union, 20% VAT is included. All other orders are tax free and, if goods are being sent to a country where VAT (UK tax) is not applicable, VAT will disappear from the total on the page after the shipping destination is entered.

Export  We are happy to supply goods to customers within Europe (Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Gibralter, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland ), USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. If you are outwith this area then we you may contact us by email to discuss the situation. Our decision will largely be dependent on our Merchant Service Provider's view!

Customs and Duty  Please note that all shipments to destinations outside the EU ( and some destinations such as the Channel Islands) may be subject to import duties and and or taxes, which are levied once a shipment reaches such a destination. Any charges for customs clearance must be borne by you as they are outwith our control.
Credit Card Security All credit card numbers are encrypted in the software when the order is placed using 128-bit encryption. As payment is made directly on the SagePay and HSBC Bank secure websites, BrogueShoes.co.uk/Mackie & Co Limited never captures or processes your credit card details on our sites. They are not held in clear text on any web site.

Returns Policy We offer a 30 day no quibble money back guarantee. In the event that you are not entirely satisfied with any our products, then you may contact us within 30 days of receipt for a returns number. For goods purchased between 1st November and 10th December, the 30 day period is extended, so that Christmas presents may be returned or exchanged up until 10th January.

Under no circumstances should goods be returned without a returns number. Most of our goods are high value items and responsibility for them remains with the customer until they are returned in ORIGINAL CONDITION to us. The customer will be responsible for all return shipping and insurance costs. When we issue a return number, we shall advise you of the return address and any necessary customs documentation.

If goods are returned to us showing signs of wear, we are unable to give you a refund. We strongly recommend that you try any shoes or boots on a carpet, as it takes very little to scuff the soles on a new pair. Your statutory rights are not affected.
